T-cell Covid-19 test
Project summary
T cells are white blood cells that clean up pathogens and ensure the memory of the immune system. The research should lead to a new corona test, based on the detection of T cells. This is in addition to the existing antibody tests. People who have had a mild infection sometimes don’t have enough antibodies to measure. There are indications that T cells can be measured in those people.
Impact
In addition to a T-cell test for the coronavirus, this research also provides new knowledge about the role of T cells in the immune response. This can be very useful for understanding the immune response after vaccination, for example.
