Chemotherapy-induced transcription-replication conflicts (TRCs): from molecular mechanism to novel treatment strategies

Project summary

Recently, we have shown that several chemotherapeutics, besides disrupting the replication process, also disrupt the transcription process. As a result, it is to be expected that more transcription-replication conflicts will take place after chemotherapy, and that these transcription-replication conflicts in this way contribute significantly to cancer cell killing. However, so far, a good overview of how these transcription-replication conflicts arise after chemotherapy and their contribution to genomic instability and cancer cell killing is lacking.
