(FixCon) Cost-effectiveness of early fixation versus conservative therapy of multiple, simple rib fractures; a multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial

Project summary

Broken ribs are common and can have serious consequences. If several ribs are broken, the chest may not work as well and it hurts. This can cause patients breathing problems. Traditionally, patients were treated without surgery, nowadays they are treated surgically more often.
This study will examine whether operative rib fixation is more cost-effective than non-operative treatment of multiple simple rib fractures after blunt trauma in adults.
