IknowIT - Integrated knowledge discovery IT: Clinical Decision Support platform for Pancreatic Cancer

Project summary

Pancreatic cancer is on the rise and has a grim prognosis with a five-year survival rate of 6%. Healthcare database management systems contain a huge amount of health data, rich in scientific value. However, currently this wealth of information is not efficiently exploited or mined due to the lack of bioinformatics skills, resources and missing data infrastructure. iKnowIT fills this gap by developing a platform that guides the treatment of pancreatic cancer and eventually other diseases.

Impact

The developed model can be used by clinicians to develop and prescribe personalized pancreatic cancer treatment regimens. This will increase the treatment options for pancreatic patients and thereby their overall survival and quality of life.
