Listen, Learn, Localize: neural development of sound direction sensitivity.
Project summary
A baby turns his/her head toward a sound. A brainstem nucleus computes sound direction by measuring the difference in the arrival times of sounds at both ears. To do this, the inputs to the neurons in this nucleus have to be matched. We will investigate in Mongolian gerbils when this matching occurs and what the contribution of sound input to both ears is.
