Local chemotherapy directly in the liver with the chemo pump in patients with inoperable bile duct cancer in the liver

Project summary

In a previous KWF project, the use of a chemo pump in colon cancer was investigated. A chemo pump releases the chemotherapy locally. This project investigates whether this is also a good method for bile duct cancer.
The researchers want to test a new way of administering chemotherapy for patients with biliary cancer. It is a chemo pump that releases the chemo in exactly the right place. Does this yield better results than the current treatment, whereby the medication is given via an infusion?

This research should contribute to patients with biliary cancer living longer, with a better quality of life. Moreover, the researchers hope that there are patients for whom a healing operation is possible again, after the chemo pump has worked.
