The role of Bachmann’s Bundle in atrial fibrillation
Project summary
About 300,000 patients in The Netherlands suffer from atrial fibrillation. Bachmann’s Bundle connects the left and right atrium. By means of a novel technique, this project will investigate electrical signaling between the atriums via Bachmann’s Bundle during open-heart surgeries in patients with and without atrial fibrillation.
Impact
This study will provide new insights on the causes of atrial fibrillation. This may lead to the development of novel therapies for atrial fibrillation.
