Better diet during pregnancy for a healthy pediatric heart

Project summary

With simple changes to her eating habits, an overweight pregnant woman may reduce the chance that her child will develop cardiovascular diseases later in life. The aim of this project is to investigate whether maternal obesity causes changes in the development of the placenta and fetal heart, and whether this can be positively influenced by a healthier diet during pregnancy.

Impact

It is expected that a healthy diet during pregnancy will improve the prospects of the child. This research may generate new ideas on how to stimulate the healthy development of the heart.
