SHIFT-Study
Project summary
Chronic conditions such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and depression are common causes of health problems. In the past, people mainly had one of these disorders, but this picture is changing rapidly. In 2040, for example, more Dutch people will be living with such “multimorbidity” than people with a single chronic condition.
Impact
The aim of this study is to investigate the run-up to the development of multiple chronic conditions. The extent to which this process differs between men and women is examined. In addition, it will be determined what the influence of sex and gender-related risk factors is on this process.
